Sirga Route
The PR8 connects PR1 with PR2, stretching 6.5 km. The route allows you to explore the entire left bank of the Tagus River in Gavião, following ancient paths once used by fishermen. Part of the trail is along the Sirga walls, structures built to allow men and animals to drag boats upstream when the Tagus was navigable.

The flora along the trail is uniquely rich: ash trees, alders, almond trees, and willows accompany you throughout. Human intervention complements the landscape, with terraced olive groves and dry-stone walls forming small terraces on the slopes.

The banks of the Tagus also house two important colonies of griffon vultures, large scavenging birds with a prehistoric appearance, watching from the rocky cliffs those who walk the trail.
